Dear Parents and Carers

SATs exams

Congratulations to Year 6 for the hard work they put into preparing for the SATs. I am sure that this will be paid off as they all performed at their best for the tests this week. We had 100% attendance even though some children were feeling a bit under the weather. They showed true determination to achieve their best.

As a reward for their hard work, they have been invited to a film and pizza night in the school hall on Wednesday 20th May straight after school. The children will be ready to be collected at 8 pm. Please remember to return your confirmation of consent slip to the school and a donation of £2.50 towards the cost of the food. Thank you.

115 Club

As you may be aware, the infant school is unable to provide after school provision for junior school children for the holiday and for after school from September. I would like to assure you that since finding out this information we have been in discussions with Mr Steadman about the holiday club and to support our families in the community we have offered them the use of our facilities. We are waiting to have confirmation and will let you know the outcome as soon as we have it. With regards to breakfast club, we have confirmed with 115 that the provision we offer will not change and both infant and junior children are welcome.

We are investigating a range of options for after school provision from September. I want to assure you that we will provide after school care for the parents and children in the community. I will update you further on this as soon as I have made formal arrangements. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and be rest assured that we are working very hard to ensure that your current level of care will continue.

Carey Camp

Our Year 4 children are looking forward to their residential trip to Carey Camp on 15th – 17th June 2015. This is a very popular trip and nearly 70 children will be going this year. They will enjoy sleeping under canvas and taking part in a wide variety of team-building activities.

Scarecrow Summer Fair

Our wonderful PTA team are very excited about the QPA Summer Fair on Saturday, 11th July 2015. We hope that as many parents and children as possible will be coming along to enjoy the activities. If you have any ideas that you would like to share with us or help in any way, please let us know. You can contact the PTA by sending an email to the Secretary, Dawn Adlem at [email protected] . Thank you for your support.

New QPA Website

The link to our new school website is the same as before, www.queenspark-academy.co.uk. You can check all school information and details about events and important dates.

Mobile phones

If you feel it is necessary for your child to bring a mobile phone to school, please ensure that a letter has been sent to the class teacher to authorise them having it at school. They must be handed in to the teacher at the start of the school day.

Cycling to school

Cycling to school is vital to a child’s safety. A bicycle often starts as just a toy, but quickly becomes a means of transport.

If you would like your child to cycle to school, please ensure that a permission form has been completed (available from the office). Part of the conditions for cycling to school are that the bicycle is locked in our bike locks and that a helmet is worn. This is vital as even landing on the pavement can cause severe head injuries if not worn.

Half Term

Please remember that Friday 22nd May is a Staff Training Day so there is no school for the children. Half Term starts on Monday 25th and finishes on Friday 29th May. Lessons start again on Monday 1st June.

I hope you and your families have an enjoyable and refreshing half term holiday.

With best wishes
